Covid-19 Safety Measures

For safety reasons, especially in relation to Covid-19 recommendations, the event organisers have had to modify the event in a number of ways. We know that participants will understand and will co-operate with these arrangements so that we may attempt to ensure the safety of everyone. The core race and course will remain the same, so we hope that people will still get the enjoyment of participating in the 10th Anniversary edition of our flat, fast half-marathon.

Summary of Provisionals Measures

The organisers of the race are continuing to monitor the situation in relation to Covid-19 and will be aiming to adapt their plans based on any changes which could affect the event. The safety of all participants is of utmost priority and we are doing everything within our resource capacity to protect participants, stewards and spectators attending on the day of the event.

Some of the Measures we are taking are as follows;

– 20 x 50 – Race Limited to 1000 participants broken up into 20 Waves of 50 runners each, based on estimated finish time. Runners will each have a start location which are 2 meters apart.

– Participants when arriving by car to the start area will show their race bib number and will be asked to park close to their start wave location on arrival and go directly to their starting point within their wave.

– There will be no indoor activity – Race Bibs/(Numbers with chip) will be posted out. There will be no t-shirts to be collected, participants will receive a 10th Anniversary commemorative mug instead which will be collected at the finish along with medal. Runners will then return to their car. There will be no post-race refreshments or food except for water bottles.

2 hr Limit – People entering the race will need to know that they are capable of completing the race in under 2 hours. Due to the fact that we have a ‘Wave’ start format and, the first and last 5km are an out and back section, it is not possible to have runners in the last wave of runners who cannot reach the 5km by the 45min mark. The last wave of runners should reach the start line at 10 minutes and take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete the first 5.5km where they begin the outer loop of the course and cannot clash with the lead runners. The road is not wide enough to facilitate runners going in both directions at speed.
